The Pelican's renovations are now complete. The overgrown vine which covered the building has been removed, exposing the character of the original sandstone facade.
Inside the rooms have been freshened up with newly painted walls and Sisal carpeting. For those of you who have stayed with us before, the upstairs bathroom now gleems with new black & white tiles!
But it is not just the Pelican which has had a revamp. Taylor Square's new fountain is completed and the trendy St Margrets site (just 3 doors down from us) is now opened - offering shopping, restaurants and art galleries.
The Pelican is also an ideal base for seeing Sydney. We are minutes away from the CBD and only seconds away from Oxford Street - known for its cafes, clubs, and the annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. And as the area is well serviced by buses - visiting the Opera House or going to the beach is very easy.
Our guests often refer to the Pelican as an 'oasis' because we are in amongst it all - yet you would not know it sitting in our tropical garden filled with mature trees and wisteria vines.
The statistics that we have been compiling over the last 2 years tells us that 80% of our guests have been to the hotel before. So we must be doing something right!!
After the hotel closed down - it was converted into apartments.
In 2021, the apartments got a facelift and became available online. Please look up our website: www.thepelican.com.au
